space probes: the stars

These are all of the characters that are in "space probes", the hit series about space probes! They each have backstories and such

Lunar Probe 1217

Known as 'Luna'

Launched 29 July 2008

A sister to the satellites orbiting around the globe, Luna was instead intended to give us the very first video footage of outside the Milky Way, specifically focusing on moons. Because of the 2008 launch year, the camera quality of Luna’s footage is poor due to the technology of the time. She often struggles with her identity, and found a love in Charlotte, before that ultimately ended in 5109

Mariner 11

Known as 'Willow'

Launched 23 January 2009

Mariners 1-10 were launched in the 1960s and 1970s as small-scale exploration projects. Mariner 11, launched nearly 40 years later, was designed to solve problems caused by Mariner 10. However, Mariner 11 has communication problems with home base and hasn’t been able to communicate home in over 10 years.

Echo Explorer

Known as 'Echo'

Launched 14 October 2008

Designed to go beyond the edge of the solar system and stop once reached the edge of Andromeda. A miscalculation in battery capacity and rechargeability has resulted in Echo continuing to move onwards forever

Recon Ranger Mission 19

Known as 'Ghost'

Launched 16 August 2009

The 19th Recon Ranger Mission was the final one designed by a retiring researcher. As one final goodbye to his lifelong profession, he launched RRM19 in 2009 to be sent as far away from home as possible. When satellite to satellite communication was invented, it was sent home, installed, and relaunched. As such, it has two distinct memory storages.

Red Rover

Known as 'Red'

Launched 3 July 2008

The only of the satellites to be based upon a planet, Red Rover was sent out to scour the face of Pluto. Being still based within our solar system, he sometimes has trouble communicating with other satellites due to the distance between them. His batteries also run dry easily especially after communicating.

Voyager 19

Known as 'V'

Launched 5 April 2009

Not a lot is known about the origins of Voyager 19, and not a lot is known about his current whereabouts or status. He’s very talkative however and says all he does all day is communicating. The only photos of V19 are blurry and black and white, taken by an amateur photographer, who was the one who built him. His artistic style has limited the knowledge of his space probe, who is often attributed to NASA and is the spark of many conspiracy theories.

Orbiter 2011

Known as 'Charlotte'

Launched 23 January 2010

Designed solely to help the broadcast of information and communication, O2011 was one of the first of the group to develop the ability to communicate on its own. As a result of this, a lot of O2011’s first years were spent yelling into the void, which developed a bout of loneliness, which was solved when LP1217 came around. When O2011’s batteries run dry, a lot of people in rural areas lose access to the internet until she recharges.
